upgrade NT4 to 2000 on IBM Netfinity 7000

Hi,

Is there's a big risk on upgrading my Netfinity 7000 from NT4 to 2000? And
I can't find the scsi driver on my server room. That's why I didn't continue
with this.

Is there's a big risk that 2000 will not recognize driver on scsi from NT4?

Please advise.

What scsi device/card is it? Can you not download the required driver just
in case?

IBM web site explain, it's unsupported, all links delete.

I got this usually fine with non-critical server but the one is my
ERP/Oracle server. Can't make mistake.

Do you think I should do it without driver?

Well ... I'd make sure I had several *really* good back ups before going
ahead :)

.... and looking here

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/maintain/optimize/perftune.mspx

It implies that the NF7000 series is indeed W2K Svr compatible.

What _may_ be possible is perhaps to create a virtual server on some spare
hardware using MS virtual server or VMware virtual server (both are free, my
personal preference is for VMWare but you may prefer the MS one) and run
your application on that.

Then you can install the new OS on the NF7000 then move the virtualised
server onto it. Then you wont be in a similar situation if you upgrade to
more powerful hardware in the future.
