I have Windows Small Business Server 2000, with several computers with
different versions of windows running on it. So far the only problems have
been with a few XP home machines. Two of the machines are giving me the
message:
“(Server name) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if
you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.â€

I have checked in the active directory and as far as I can tell the
computers have permission. The computers that are doing this have been on the
network, and sometimes just randomly just get kicked off the server (about
once every other week). I have tried to remap drives with no luck. We’ve
had this problem before, and after a few days, restarting the computers about
3000 times, and messing around with the AD it arbitrarily starts working
again.

Any help or useful knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

(I’m not sure if this is part of the problem or even a problem at all, but
it may be related. I’m getting a windows system error on about all the
computers running on the network saying “A duplicate name exists on the
network†I’ve tried changing the name and it won’t let me giving me the same
reason – a duplicate name exists on the network- Other than giving me
annoying messages every time I reboot it isn’t a problem.)
