Server based rules in Outlook wont' apply - receiving error

Hello,

I am trying to apply some server based rules in Outlook 02 or 03. I
need to setup an automated response when a specific Exchange mailbox
receives a message. I’ve configured the rule in outlook using the
following parameters:

- Check message sent to people or distribution list.
- Have server reply using a specific message.

It works fine but fails when I set the FROM field when creating the
“specific Message”
I need to FROM field set so when the recipient gets the auto replied
message it shows that it came from the right address. If I don’t then
it replies from my email address.

If I try to set the FROM field I get the following error while trying
to save the rule.

“One or more rules could not be uploaded to Exchange sever and have
been deactivated. This could be because some of the parameters are
not supported or these is insufficient space to store all of you
rules.”

Maybe the FROM field is not supported? I know it’s not a space issue
because again, works fine without the FROM field set. I’ve also
removed all rules on my computer and not luck. I’ve also tried it
from other workstations with no success.

Anyone have any idea what is happening or if these’s another way to
accomplish this task?

Thanks for any info-

Offhand I'd guess the FROM field isn't supported. Is the address you're
trying to use one of the addresses associated with your account in
Active Directory?

I figured it out. You have to setup the auto-reply using a public
folder. After configuring a mail-enabled public folder, go to
properties, admin TAB, folder assistant and add rule. From there set
to reply using a template. Works like a charm.

Thanks!
