Server Based Networking...

Dear all:

My small office has recently decided to have a network change. Currently we
use individual terminals running windows XP, and use standard file and
printer sharing.

We have decided to move towards server-client based networking, using thin
client machines and one central server. What I need to know is which
operating system(s) to use.

We were planning to use the RDP connection protocol, which will cause a
problem because using this protocol on windows xp, only one user can use the
server at a time, and should another try to log-on, the current user is
politely asked to disconnect their session.

Which operating system would enable several users (6 in total) to log onto
the network at the same time, and is it possible, with the right OS, to
continue using RDP, or would another protocol have to be used?

We are going to be using the 2X ThinClientServer and ThinClient OS for the
terminals, (we plan to use the existing terminals and convert them to thin
clients by replacing windows with the new 2X OS).

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you need Windows Server 2003 with Terminal Services enabled in
Application mode (simply a configuration of Windows Server) and to purchase
TS (Terminal Service) CAL's (Client Access Licenses) for 6 clients.
However, I believe the TS CALs come in packs of 5 as a minimum.
