Server 2 RDP license now 1?

I have noted that, not this week but some time in the recent past, Windows
Server 2000 (all versions) seem to have lost a CAL for RDP. The server came
with a 2 CAL license to administer the server, now all the 2000 servers I
have to administer remotely only allow a single sign on. Anyone know why
Microsoft took away this CAL? Any plan to give it back? Sometimes we need 2
people in there.

Try rebooting. One is probably hung in use. Then check the disconnected
session timeout settings.

I know about hung jobs, that is one of my concerns, needless to say each of
the systems has been booted, even power off boots, many times. I have tested
my issue using several of my client's servers and co-workers. When I first
noticed with just a single server I assumed that it was just another messed
up MSFT registry, but since it has occured to every Server 2000 that I deal
with, and most of the popular protection programs are represented on
different machines at different locations, either all have the same malware
or microsoft did something. My 2003 and 2008 servers do not have this issue.
It appears to be confined to Server 2000.

Malware might be to blame but check terminal services manager to see who or
what is using the other one.

brands malware detection, none there, 1st thing did was to look at connection
through manager. Can be in manager and watch others try to connect, they get
the "all licenses in use message". If this were a single machine at a single
location I would think it was the machine, but EVERY customer machine at many
different locations are exhibiting the same results.

Note: This issue is confined to Server 2000, newer servers still work
correctly

Have you accidentally updated Remote Desktop from version 5 to 6?

Or in tscc on the W2K machines, has the "Maximum connections" under the
"Network Adapter" tab been changed?

Never heard of this. Don't really know what to say other than I don't think
it is the operating system.
