I have a pool league standing sheet that I would like to
spreadsheet that I would like to send out to the
different team members by email but when I send it out no
one seems to be able to open it or they are asked what to
open it with even though they have Microsoft Works it
still doesn't open. Is there anyway I can put it into the
body of the message instead of just as a text because
none of the columns would line up?

Thanks
darrell

Are you using Works to create the spreadsheet? If so, are you using a
different version than the people you are emailing to? Maybe try doing a
Save As and saving it in a previous version of works.

The problem is that if people don't have the program in which you
created the original file on *their* computers, they probably won't be
able to open it. MS Works has always used a particularly fiddly
proprietary format. At least one can download an Excel viewer and other
spreadsheet programs (like the ones from Corel and OpenOffice) can read
Excel. Works even has difficulties opening files made in other versions
of Works. You should think about 1) getting Excel and including the
free viewer with your attachments; 2) or better yet - and also because
opening attachments in email is such a Bad Idea - get yourself a web
page and post the spreadsheet there as a table or something. Then all
you have to do is send your friends the url. Most ISP's give you a bit
of space on their servers for a home page, and most of them have a
wizard to walk you through creating a home page. Give it a try.
