i'm having problems sending my spread sheets by e-mail.I
have created a spreadsheet, that has borders and outlines
and has colums with different colors. The problem i'm
having is when i send this by e-mail is that all my
outlined borders and different colored writing that looks
great on my spreadsheet disapears. and all my names and
numbers get all pushed to gether to the left instead of
staying in nice borderd colums and instead of seeing
colord text its all black and white. What do i need to do
to fix this problem, so that my e-mailed spreadsheets
look just as nice as the ones that are on my screen
before i e-mail them?

You will need to send them as either an attachment or an image file.

HTH, JAX

You will need to send them as either an attachment or an image file.

I'd bet he's already sending than as an attachment.

I too regularly receive Excel files that seem to lose their formating
when opened on a different computer. I've always wondered why that is.

It won't change if sent as sent as a .bmp image.

JAX

Yeah, and it won't change if you send it as a jpeg, or an EPS file, or
an Acrobat file, etc.

But then again these methods would allow you to work with the Excel
spreadsheet now would it?

Likely it is being opened directly in a mail program, which is clever
enough to do a basic display, rather than saving the attachment and
opening it in Excel itself. Even then, if the recipient has an older
version things, or is missing one of the precise fonts used, it may not
look right

Another culprit is sending email by using "send" from within Excel, as
opposed to saving the file and attaching as an email through your preferred
email app.

Should also confirm what format the file is being saved in, as well as what
programs are being used to open them up.
