sending/receiving once OK, but not twice

Hi to all,

Following a HD crash, I am setting up Windows Mail with my 3 mail accounts.
Everything works when I click on send/receive all. Once the messages are
sent/received, if I click again on the send/receive all button, nothing
happens, there is an error (in fact, no error number, but it says something
like Errors during the treatment of the requesting tasks....sorry it is a
poor translation from french to english of the display).

If I click on the button corresponding to receiving e-mails of one of my 3
accounts, its works, but when I click on sending/receving all, it does not
work.

It is very strange.

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks for your help

Wellwood

That is typically a symptom indicating interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

Thanks Gary for your message.

I solved the problem! I also thought it was an interference with my
antivirus program (kaspersky), but before my hd crash, I had no problem with
Windows Mail and Kaspersky (which only analyses the incoming mail).

In fact, it was a problem with the import of my e-mails that I had backed up
with a dedicated software. In the software (static windows mail backup), it
is indicated that I must close completely Windows Mail so that the restore
process can be efficient, but I forgot to close it, and it made a real mess
in my Windows Mails local folders. So I made a copy of all the files
contained in user/app data/local/microsoft/windows mail, I deleted the
original files, and I then launched the restore process, this time closing
Windows Mail.

All went perfectly well, and I can now click on the sending/receiving button
once, twice, and all the time I want and Windows Mail receives/sends all I
want.

Sorry to have disturbed you for this,

Best regards,

Cheers from France,

Wellwood

Thanks for reporting back.
Certainly an improper backup can create a mess of Windows Mail
when reimported. It's not a very common occurrence, though, so
its not something we responders think of first.
