Sending mail

Mail only will send messages when I exit the program. Hitting the send and
receive button does nothing.

Any updates to the program out there?

Click on Tools, then Accounts, then your email account, then Properties.
If you don't have a check mark in the box before Include this account
when receiving mail or synchronizing, click on this box and then Apply.
Click on OK and then Close.

Click on Tools, then Options. If there's no check mark in the box
before Send and receive messages at startup, click on this box and
then Apply. Click on Send. If there's no check mark in the box
before Send messages immediately, click on this box and then
Apply. Click on OK.

If that doesn't do enough, what antivirus programs if any do you have?

No that is how it is set up. All the appropriate boxes checked. I am using
the avast program.

Windows Mail often behaves erratically when interfered with by
some antivirus programs. Windows Mail is not compatible with
most McAfee and Norton security programs. Those will need to
be uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

Hi Gary,

I have disabled the Avast program just to test it and still no luck won't
send until I exit.
I really appreciate your attention to my little problem.

The Avast AV is fully compatible with Windows Mail as long as the
email scanning function is turned off.

I don't have another suggestion except to upgrade to the better
Windows Live Mail program:
