I can sent and receive mail, but when I try to send a link from a web page,
it asks me to choose a profile. I don't know what it wants in that box.
I've put in what I have for a profile on sending email, but it doesn't work.

Help me please. Sick of calling ATT and not getting the help I need.

You will need to tell us what your preferred email method is.
Do you use Windows Mail for POP3 mail, or do you use webmail
via your browser?

The screen that asks for a profile, which program is that from?

You might try their help web site instead. Note that it does not work
for all parts of AT&T yet, such as the bellsouth.net part.

Start | Default Programs
Make sure that Windows Mail has all three of its defaults.

Did anyone ever answer this? When clicking on a "Mailto" link on a web page
we get the same problem. There is no profile setup with Windows Mail.
Therefore the mailto link does not work.

How do you setup a working profile or otherwise fix the problem?

First you need to decide what your preferred email method is,
then let us know, before we can help.

I have the same error message when trying to send a file using the right
click and "send to mail recipient". I am prompted to choose a profile and
only outlook profile is available. I am using windows mail with POP3.

I would appreciate any help I can get.

Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on Windows Mail.
If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults" then fix it by
clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.
