sending a new email using outlook

I'm using the trial version of Office 2007 and I have set up my email account
without problem. I can receive emails and can send reply's to emails I have
received, but if I try to send a new email it just sits in the outbox
gathering dust!
I've read through a lot of the discussions, but as I have no technical
ability and even less knowledge I don't know what to do/if there is a remedy.
 
My best advice is to call your Internet Service Provider and verify the
information listed for your Outgoing Server is correct. Every service
provider is different, so you'll want to get that information directly from
the source.

Thanks Deanna, I will do that, but can you explain to me how my replies to
emails get sent when my new messages don't? Sorry if this is a basic/obvious
thing to some!
