Sender's Information Missing on Cover Page

M

Mark Pearson

I am using the Fax Mail Transport with Outlook 2000
(Corporate or Workgroup option) on Windows 2000
Professional (Fax Service installed). When I send a fax
using Outlook 2000, and include a cover page, the fax is
sent successfully, but the sender's information on the
cover page is missing (the "From", "Fax number", "Business
phone", and "Home phone" fields are blank). The
recipient's name and fax number, however, are filled in
appropriately. Have I configured something wrong or is
there a way for me to configure these fields to be filled
in correctly so that when I send a fax the recipient will
know who it came from?

Is this the Cover Page you enable in Outlook or the one you configure for
the Fax Service?

M

Mark Pearson

It is the cover page that I've enabled for the Fax Service
in Windows 2000. The issue seems to occur for any cover
page that I enable--any of the common cover pages or a
personal cover page--the sender's information is missing
on all of them.

Right. I'm sure that's still the case with no workaround. Outlook has never
integrated well with cover pages. Sender information and notes will not
appear on the cover page. No better in Windows XP, but we keep making the
request for improvement.

Please try this and see if it works. On Windows 2000 Professional, open
Start --> Settings --> Printers. Goto to Fax --> Properties --> User
Information tab to set the sender information.

Thanks,

When Outlook is configured to use any of the common coverpages provided with
Microsoft fax or any personal coverpage created with the Cover Page Editor,
it would take the sender information set in the way I mentioned below.

Are you talking about cover pages used while sending fax in Outlook and
created by some other means?

Thanks,

Depends on the fax/Outlook versions. In some, the sender information does
not get populated. Current versions work.

Just found a couple of old installations to confirm. Sender information on
the coversheet is not populated using either Outlook 2000 C/W or Outlook
2002 with Windows 2000 Fax. It only works with Windows XP Fax and Outlook
2003.

It does apply, and no, it does not work. No matter where you set the user
settings, (ie. Control Panel - Fax or Fax Printer Properties) the senders
information does not get populated to the cover page. Is there any
workaround to this problem, or another solution all together?

Thanks,

That is all together, well just sh*tty. Does anyone have an alternative to
faxing through outlook, 3rd party product etc... that is as seemless but
actually works? (other than moving to XP/Office 2003)
