Send To names do not appear

I cannot see some of my contacts Display as name when
sending email in Oulook 2002. Especially when I click on
the "To" after higlighting my contact's name in
the "select names" dialogue box. The name is represented
by a semi-colon (;) or a period (.) on the "message
recipients" list to the right of the contact list withn
the same dialogue box ("select name"). I hope the email's
been sent to the name I clicked on, but I cannot see the
name of the recipient in the select names/message
recipient box as well as the Send to: line on the e-
mail.... ????? Any way to circumvent this?

How did you create these mutant Contacts? Were they imported?
If so, how?

I have the same issue. I have created contacts and while looking at the
contact record, everything is visible in each field into which I have
entered information (i.e. Display name). Yet, for some mysterious reason,
there are select records which do not display in the TO: or CC: field when I
create a new message.

The contacts were imported as comma separated values from
another address book I had. They look perfect in the
outlook address book in that when I bring up a contact
each has the correct email and display name. The problem
occurs when I try to send to say more than one person on
my contact list, some(most) of the names do not appear as--
John Doe (e-mail address removed))-- as i expect them to. So
when, when i'm done selecting let's say 5 people on my
contacts to send an e-mail to, I get the following on the
Send To line of the email: Jane([email protected]);;;;John
([email protected])--- as you can see, the second, third and
fourth person's email/display name doesn't appear (just
spaces with semi-colon following)- So I don't know if I
clicked on them or not, or if the email will reach
them.... !!!!?????

You imported incorrectly. Take a look at this MS KB article, it may help:
