Send & Recieve won't work

Windows 98se, MS Office, Outlook XP...Test accounts
settings go through fine. I can access updates and the web
(anything on line). All my dial up settings seem correct
however I am not on a LAN and nothing will dial up unless
I have the "connect using LAN and via modem when outlook
is off line options chosen. Everything worked fine like
this for quite some time (without any unwanted dial ups).I
checked for and added updates to both outlook an win98,
now I have no send & recieve with outlook. All tech
support I've spoken with has had me un install and
reinstall both outlook and earthlink software as well as
overwriting windows, all of which I have done to no repair.
Detect and Repair nor scanpst does anything to help. I
have backed up my files and created a new PST still no
send or recieve. All other dialup works as it should. I am
at a loss here. Fell free to send any ideas to my e-mail
as well as posting. Thank you

Billy - I have a similar problem. Outlook Express works,
but not Outlook. I am also an Earthlink user. Have you
had any success?

Steve, So far no luck finding the fix. I haven't
tried to see of Outlook Express works but I can go to
websites and such from outlook. I did get a message while
trying to respond to this that my default(Outlook) program
was not installed prpoerly. I'll have to look into that.
If I figure something out I'll let you know. E_mail me at
(e-mail address removed) And I'll get back to you
faster. Billy

I used the tech 24 support and they helped to solve my
similar problem. first i deleted all of my mail accounts
and re-set them up. THen I went to the control
panel/mail and re-set up my profile. When I did this I
used the minimum of info to set up the profile from
scratch. I'm not sure what the problem was, but this
solved it. good luck.

repeating the same actions over and again the same way
expecting different results. I tried that many times to no
avail. Well upon your suggestion I tried it one more time.
This time for some reason, unknown to me, it worked! I was
able to import my mail and address books and all is
working as it should be again. Thanks for your help.
