Send/Receive strange issue

I hit the send/receive button numerous times a day. Most of the time it
works fine for all 5 e-mail addresses and I receive hundereds per day. But
every now and again, it will show downlaoding "number of messages" at
"whatever size" and then nothing ever shows up. Not in my Inbox or Junk.

I am not sure if this means nothing or if I am missing messages. Since it
is for work, that could be bad.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
