Hey guys

I have a 4MB DSL line at home, but for some reason my Outlook 2003
takes upwards of 2 minutes to do a simple send\receive (and I'm not
trying to send or download emails with large attachments either). This
problem only started earlier today, when I tried to open Outlook, but
it seemed to hang. So, I ended the process in the Task Manager, and
then was able to open it okay the next time around.

Previously, a send\receive would usually only take about 20-30
seconds...

I have tried running Scanpst.exe (which found some errors, and
corrected them), but the slowness still persists.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Hey Dom

Just as maintenance issue you could try compacting you mailbox. This may
improve performance.

You may try running outlook in safe mode (outlook.exe /safe) to see if that
gives you any clues. Safe mode disables any add-ins and customizations.

Also, pst files that get to be 1.5 GB in size begin to have problems if I
recall correctly. This is pretty massive for a pst file, so it most likely
is not an issue in your case.

Hey Ian

I've already tried compacting my mailbox, and my PST isn't too big
(400MB). Out of frustration, I decided to call up my ISP... guess what?
They were doing maintenance on their mail servers!

It's all good now :)
