Outlook 2007 send/receive freeze

during send/receive the function hangs mid-way through receiving emails. I
can continue to work in Outlook but the send/receive function is
non-functional until I close outlook and restart it. SOmetimes restarting the
computer is required to restart outlook.
ideas?

I have a similar problem and it does not appear to be a read receipt issue.

When I start Outlook 2007 I will receive messages except the last message
never completes - the current example is "Receiving message 7 of 7 (134kb of
134kb)"
I also have one message stuck in the outbox (forwarded by a rule).

I have downloaded MDBVU32.EXE and gone through the procedure described
here: http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/deletereadreceipt.htm, but find
nothing in the "messages in folder" area.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and Outlook has some time ago
disabled the antispam addin, though the "Kaspersky Outlook addin" still
appears to be active.

Vista/Office 2007.

What should I be looking at? Thanks.

I should add that sometimes I will see a message "sending message 4 of 4"
even though there is nothing to send - which usually turns out to be a read
receipt issue, but...

I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and Outlook has some time ago
disabled the antispam addin, though the "Kaspersky Outlook addin" still
appears to be active.

The first thing I'd do would be to completely uninstall the AV program and
reinstall it without the mail scanner. For some AV prograsm, having the
scanner installed, even though it shows as disabled, is enough to cause
problems.
