Hi,

We have this problem here on every computers. Outlook 2007 (with SP2)
freezes during the send receive operation. If you are typing an email at the
time, it will skip 5 to 6 characters, then unfreeze. We are using an
exchange 2007 server, and are working in online mode. No caching. The
problem exists both on the local LAN and on the WAN (on the WAN the freeze
delay is longer for it takes more time to receive new emails). It happens
with both plain text email and large emails with attachments. Is there any
patch, or configuration setting that could enable background download without
freezing Outlook?

What are your download options right now? Headers then body, or full
message? What happens if you switch from one to the other?

I was under the impression that these functions were only used in cached
mode. We are not using cached mode for it created more problems. Anyway, I
changed the settings of my inbox to download the header only (it was at
full), but the problem persists. There is no difference in the freeze time.

I found our problem. It is the McAfee antivirus. Once we deactivate the
"On-Delivery Email Scanner" in it, the problem diseapear. Thanks anyhow on
your input.

Mail virus scanners = BAD! Cause more problems than they solve. Your
realtime scanner takes care of mail and attachments.
