Send new email without send/receive

Pat

Hello all,

After composing a new email message and hitting the "send" button (which
closes the message window) I still have to hit the "Send/Receive" button to
actually send out the message.

Is there a way to make Outlook (2002) directly send out the message after
hitting "Send" rather than having to hit the follow-on "Send/Receive"?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, you need to do the following:
Goto TOOLS, OPTIONS, MAIL SETUP.
Verify that the send immediately check box is checked.
That should send your messages immediately.

Thanks Scott.

I checked the Mail Setup and the "send immediately" option is checked.
However, even though this is checked, when I send email it immediately goes
to the "Outbox" and stays there untill I hit "Send/Receive" in the mail
Outlook menu. Could this be a bug in Outlook?

Hi Pat,
have you also checked the send/receive Option
TOOLS > OPTIONS > Mail Setup > Send/Receive Button?

Under the Send/Receive button, both "Include this group..." and "Schedule an
automatic send/receive every [5] minutes" are checked. But even though
these are checked, it doesn't actually send/receive every 5 miniutes.
Something definitely seems odd.

Thanks for the help.
