send/receive problem

I loaded Outlook 2003 on a new laptop and set up with my internet-based email
server. I hit send/receive to download all 2,000 emails from that server
(all OK so far). The next time I hit send/receive (and each successive
time), Outlook started downloading all 2,000 emails again! How do I get
Outlook to recognize that it's already downloaded these emails and only to
download new emails? THanks!
