send link by e-mail in IE 7 nightmares

Hi.

We use Outlook 2003 to send and receive emails.

I often use the feature in IE 7 called "Send Link by E-mail" to send url's
to other people in the household and friends and family.

If you send someone a hyperlink that's really long Outlook "wraps" the text
in the incoming emails and you can't click on them to open. You have to copy
all the text from both lines and paste it into your browser.

In other words the first line is a hyperlink and is usually blue but any
text that wraps appears on the second line and it's black and is NOT part of
the hyperlink.

How can I make Outlook NOT 'break' my hyperlinks like this.

I've searched the Discussion Group for an hour and can't find any answers to
this. I'm surely not the only person with this issue.

Thanks for your help.

Hi.

I did some more testing and sort of found my problem.

When I click on Send link by e-mail Outlook creates a new message as Plain
Text.

I've told Outlook to create all new messages using HTML.

Why does Send link by e-mail create a Plain Text message and how do I have
it send those as HTML messages by default?

The "send a link" feature does not use Outlook directly. It uses the default mail program. Therefore, all it knows about is plain text. The article at http://www.slipstick.com/mail1/longline.htm explains how to modify Outlook so that does not put in hard returns at the end of plain text lines.
