I got this message in my event viewer recently.

Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 000Dxxxxxxxx. The following error occured:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.
Data:
0000: 79 00 00 00 y...

I have tried to find out exactly what this means but am still a little confused.
If anyone can help me with what would have caused this warning message I would appreciate it.
I am running windows xp sp1 on a sony VAIO with a cable internet connection.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply. There was no error number. I got this information from the event log. It doesn't give any number (unless I am looking in the wrong place.
