Selecting User

Charlie Bress

Some thing new has happened.

I am running XP Pro and have three user accounts set up.
In the past clicking on the Start button let you switch between users while
leaving an earlier user still logged on.

Now a lot of things have changed.

Upon loading XP, on start-up I no longer get the screen with all the user
names and pictures.
Instead I get a log on box that has my name as a default (I am first
alphabetically) but I can select another user's name.

Then when logged on, clicking the Start button lets a user log of. Gone is
the ability to switch to another user while leaving the first user still
logged on and leaving their work undisturbed.

What has happened here and how do I get back to the original setup?

Try the following.

Go to Control Panel and double click User Accounts.
In User Accounts, click on "Change the way users log on or
off".
Put a check mark in the box next to "Use the Welcome screen"
and "Use Fast User Switching".
Hit the Apply Options button.
Go to the Start button and see if you can switch users. Restart
your computer to see if the Welcome screen is displayed.

Good luck

Many thanks. That was the ticket (but not to Foxboro)

Charlie (now in the land of Bucaneers. Oh well!)
