Selecting Multiple JPGs in My Pictures. Can Only Open One at a Tim

I'm selecting multiple JPGs in My Pictures & attempting to open them
simultaneously in Photoshop CS2. If I select 12, only the last file selected
is opening and I then have to open the other files one at a time. Same
scenario using ImageReady CS2 to open. I've rebooted the computer but I still
have the problem.

PSCS2 & ImageReady CS2 are new programs installed several days ago. I recall
having this same issue occasionally when I used Photoshop 7, but it's been
months since I've encountered the problem & now I'm not sure how I fixed it.
Can anyone help? Opening photo files one at a time is seriously impeding my
workflow!

Thanks in advance,
Alchemy

Are you holding down the Ctrl key while you click to select the
pictures? If you don't, multiple clicks will just change the file
that is selected, not add it to a group selection.

And you should know that you can select a *contiguous* group of
files by clicking on the first (or last), then holding Shift and
clicking on the last (or first).

After selecting the group of files, click OK in the dialog box
to open them.

Yes, I'm clicking the first image then holding the shift key & clicking on
the last image to select a contiguous group. All the images appear
highlighted in blue at that point in My Pictures, but Photoshop CS2 and
ImageReady CS2 open one file rather than the group. I'm not sure why.

I understand what you are trying to do. This will not happen. Only one
picture will open. If you want more you need to start the image editing
software first and then select photos with it. Or, obviously, once the image
editing software is started you can open as many as you want from there, but
you can't do this from selecting multiple pictures from Explorer.

Thanks for the replies. Yves Alarie, that's not actually true. I found the
problem only happens when I select "Open With". Selecting multiple jpg's from
My Pictures (clicking the first then holding shift and clicking the last to
select the group), then selecting "Open", will indeed open the selected group
of files even if Photoshop CS2 has not been started. I receive a warning that
opening (number) of files may slow down my computer, click yes to open
anyway, PS CS2 starts, and the group of files opens. As long as I select
"Open" problem solved.
