seize schema master

david

I have removed a DC from the production environment to
build a test lab. When I attempt to seize the roles I
can't seize the schema master role. I get a permissions
error. On further inspection it report that the schema
master is offline.

Also dcdiag will not run on the DC.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thank you

Have you reformatted the DC that was in your production environment? There
can only be one Schema Master in a forest, and if you seize the role to
another machine, you can never bring the old Schema Master back online
without massive AD corruption.

have another issue.

I am not able to join computers to the Test lab domain.....

The DNS is configured properly as far as I can tell, but
that doesn't mean there isn't something wrong with it. Is
there a record the handles this process?
