Seize domain naming error

Hi,
I had 2 DC, MARS as parent DC & VENUS as additional DC for MARS. MARS
DC failed which hold all the FSMO roles. So i deleted all objects related to
MARS by using metadata cleanup. than i installed new WIN 2000 giving the
same name MARS, joined the domain as additional DC, seized all roles except
domain naming master, while seizing domain naming master i receive the
following error

fsmo maintenance: saeize domain naming master
Error 80070057 parsing input - illegal syntax?
fsmo maintenance: seize domain naming master
Attempting safe transfer of domain naming FSMO before seizure.
ldap_modify_sW error 0x35(53 (Unwilling To Perform).
Ldap extended error message is 0000214B: SvcErr: DSID-03210792, problem 5003
(WI
LL_NOT_PERFORM), data 0

Win32 error returned is 0x214b(Only DSAs configured to be Global Catalog
servers
should be allowed to hold the Domain Naming Master FSMO role.)
)
Depending on the error code this may indicate a connection,
ldap, or role transfer error.
Role seizure is forbidden in this case

please help me out as how to seize Domain naming

I believed you needed to have seized the roles FIRST before the MetaData
cleanup and the reinstall. This way Venus would have held the roles, and you
can then have performed the MetaData cleanup to clean out Mars' references
in AD, then reinstall Mars.

Just make sure you use only the internal DNS too. That can also be a factor
and cause problems if you use an ISP's DNS.

Hi,
I had already tried before metadata to seize domain naming master on
VENUS, but it gave me same error as posted. i thought if domain naming
master is not available
i will be unable to create new DC as i am facing now.I have been using only
internel DNS as both my DC are on LAN.
it is not high priority for me to create new DC, i can work with srevers
joining my DC, but i need to have domain naming master on MARS or VENUS
whichever is possible.

Hi Darshan,

Have you tried to "Seize" the role?

255504 - Using Ntdsutil.exe to Seize or Transfer FSMO Roles to a Domain
