seeing what files are in USMT2.UNC

I transferred my files and settings to a new computer about two months
ago using the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. I still have the
external hard drive with the USMT2.UNC that was created. Recently i
deleted some important files on my new computer by
mistake that i am not able to recover. Accordingly, I now want to
look into the USMT2.UNC and see if it contains the files that i
deleted. I don't want to reinstall the whole thing on my new computer
because that would undo a lot of work i have done in the past two
months. Is it possible to "look in" to the USMT2.UNC to see what files
it comtains? Alternately, can I restore the files from USMT2.UNC to a
different hard drive than my C: drive?

Many thanks.

I have a similar need. I backup the files on my laptop using the FAST Wizard,
re-installed Windows on the computer, then used the Wizard to re-load the
files. But at the end of the wizard process, I received a message that
certain files couldn't be restored and had to be transferred manually.

But the originals are long gone since I re-installed Windows on the
computer. All I have left are the FAST wizard-created "USMT2.UNC" and the
..DAT files within it.

How do I look into the .DAT files to see if my missing files are in it? From
the sizes of the .DAT files, it looks like they should contain all of my
original files.

Help!

Thanks,

Jim
