I don't know how to do it with a registry read, but you can do it by checking
the version of e.g. Winword.exe.

something that can indicate if SP3 has been installed or not.

Have a Deployment application (Prism Deploy) that can assign SP3 packages to
all computers that are missing that update for example. And what I know the
application cannot read or compare files.

Any thoughts?
