I am trying to protect a pp presentation demo from being used indefinitely
without my permission or knowledge. Is there a way to limit the number of
times a pp presentation from being used based upon a date routine or number
of times it has been opened? (I am a beginner user)

If you want to go a step further you can use File - Permission to put
restrictions on what someone can
do with your presentation or any other Office document for that matter. Have
a read here:

Bear in mind that IRM is mostly an in-house solution. It depends on the user
having network access to a special service running on a Win 2003 Server box.

As I understand it, if you give the file to someone who doesn't have access to
the server, they can't open the file at all.
