Security updates

Hi,

I am running XP-SP3, and can download and install all security updates ,
EXCEPT, "Cumulative Security Update KB 950759" which keeps returning to
install.

After trying to install message reads, "Unable/cannot install, KB 950759".

All other MS, auto. downloads and installs without any problems.

Has anyone got any idea why this is happening?

Regards,

Hi,

ref. XP. SP3. IE7.

thanks for info, tried that, but still would not install, message, "files
incompatible" do you have any other suggestions?

Can it be SP3 messing with the install and do I need SP3, and can it be
removed OK?

Select, Start, Help and Support, Keep your Windows up- to-date with
Windows Update, Review your Update History. What is the Failure code.
Double click the small red icon in the Status column for the failed
update.

I think you are encountering the problem mentioned in the SP3 Release
Notes.
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...5a-40d3-a802-e4057aa8c631/relnotes.htm#ID0EOB

Solution: If you have already encountered this issue, uninstall Windows
XP SP3, uninstall Internet Explorer, and then reinstall Windows XP SP3.

Hi, Gerry,

Thanks for reply,

Yes I goggled the error and there does seem to be this problem with SP3,
and IE7 I would have thought it would have been sorted before the release,
perhaps there will be a hot fix later?

Regards,

thanks, alex

Hi,

no, went to add and remove clicked on remove and a panel popped up telling
me that removing SP3 may affect all my programs, so I think I will wait for a
hot fix. (gutless)
