IE 7 Error Message after Updates

I've been fighting for over a week an issue after the following updates are
installed.

Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express for Windows XP (KB929123)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB935840) Windows Malicious Software Removal
Tool - June 2007 (KB890830) Security Update for Windows XP (KB935839)
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP (KB933566)

Our problem is after these are installed Explorer will not display any web
page. I can diagnose the connection and all is fine. I can send and receive
emails from outlook and my kids can instant message....but no web pages....

At the bottom left I'm getting a message - Res://ieframe.dll/dsnerror.htm#

We have narrowed it down to this happens after KB890830 and KB933566 are
installed. Once they are - again no access to web pages.

Thank goodness for system restore but that's getting old once our automatic
update kicks in again...

Any help from out there would be great.

I use Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Home Edition), IE7, Microsoft
(Automatic) Update, Norton Internet Security (2007), and had no trouble like
yours following the June update. It is apparent that you have worked a lot on
the assessment of the problem, and my response may very well be of little
significance.

The reason why I respond is that I thought I’d noted this problem reported
before, which now turned out to be in threads on Live Search,
http://search.microsoft.com/results...=Search&FORM=QBME1&l=1&mkt=en-US&PageType=101

I now followed the thread:
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1067599&SiteID=1
And obviously the Res://ieframe.dll/dsnerror.htm# is causing lot of problems
– from time to time. It seems to me that this problem was addressed following
the May Update as well. Unfortunately are the proposed resolutions in the
threads not consistent, as they works for some of the posters and for others
not. Two of the proposals seems to have worked out for a number of the
posters:
1. Disabling the Windows Firewall – don’t use two of them. In my case the
Norton installation disabled the Windows one, as Nortons is the active.
2. Deactivate the IE7 Phishing filter

There are also posters who points at the fact that some of the Updates may
switch Users settings back to Windows (default) settings.

Two articles regarding the June Update, in case you have not called upon
them, helpful or not:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894199/en-us

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933566/en-us

and: “The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool helps remove
specific, prevalent malicious software from computers that are running
Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000â€:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890830/en-us

I suppose this is not of any great help to you, however may it now just be
the time for calling Microsoft as it:
1. - is an long standing issue
2. - happened during a security update
3. - obviously is recurring with monthly Updates
4. - is little response from Microsoft on the subject, as claimed by most of
the posters as referred to
5. - and you can get support from Microsoft for free: Get security support:
