Security Update KB824146 messes up system tray

M

Marcel

Hi there,

After I've installed the latest Windows Update Security
Patch KB824146, my system tray doesn't work properly
anymore. Certain icons such as Volume Control, Messenger
won't appear, despite the programs running (in
processes). I tried all sorts of things until I realised
after a system restore that it must be the security
patch. Am I the only one here or is this a known problem?

Thanks for the help

Regards,

Marcel

I have troubles with the same update (KB824146). For me
though, Windows Update couldn't install it so I manually
downloaded the patch and ran from my harddrive. I get an
access denied error even when I try to install from safe
mode. My computer is up to date other than this last
update. oh, and I am running WinXP Home SP-1. Thanks, Scott
