Security Update Downloads

I was installing XP Home Edition, downloading updates and
then I recieve a window from www.updatenow.org for
security patches for XP. Is this auth. from Microsoft and
is it safe.
 
Why would you want to install updates from some web site, other than
microsoft.com?
