Security Update Doesn't Stick

I have 'successfully' installed KB936181 (XML Cores Services 4.0) some 8
times between 5 Sept and today 22 Nov. Each time it is flagged as
successfully installed and shows as such in the history (8 times!).

However, it still appears as outstanding each time I run a check for new
updates. Any idea why this happens and how to get fix so it doesn't appear
again (assuming it really is installed).
