Windows XP and CONSTANT the same windows update. Why?

I use WindowsXP and have the windows update set to Express.

I notice that for weeks now at the end of the computer use and the Shut-off,
it always has 1 Update. I have gone to the update history and it always for
weeks the same (successful) update

"Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2
(KB936181)
A security issue has been identified in Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML)
that could allow an attacker to compromise your Windows-based system and
gain control over it. You can help protect your computer by installing this
update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart
your computer. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed. "

I must have 40 or 50 downloads of this same service pack.

What gives? How can I stop that?

That is a very expensive support from MS and it is a MS issue.
I hope to get answers without shelling out even more money to MS when it is
THEIR problem. It was NOT a pre-installed by HP, which this computer is.

Hi. I also had a problem with that update. Try uninstalling it and then install it again. That worked for me.

Support for security fixes is always free.

Check your update histories. If successfully installed you can elect to
delete it and then re-install. Or, when it comes up again during updating
scroll down and select 'do not show this update again'.

I can not scroll down. It comes up after I select Shut down, then there is
the normal background screen, but Updating the latest download. Nothing to
stop it other than a cold power switsch shutdown.

Turn off auto update and do manual update.
