Security question re.. Firefox

R

Robert Montgomery

I keep getting a message saying that Internet Shield (part of my ISP's
security package has noticed that an 'application' from the Internet is
trying to change Firefox and that pressing "Allow" could be dangerous.

Should i allow or deny the changes to be made?

When I press "Deny" the computer acts sluggishly, but when I press
"Allow" the computer acts normally, so I assume that "Allow" is the
correct response, yet I remain suspicious.

I assume that the security program is communicating with Firefox during
this process.

Wouldn't that be a question for your ISP if Internet Shield is part of their
package?

Firefox checks for updates for the browser and its add-ons. If this
attempted access can't be tied to a website you sometimes visit, I would
allow the access.
