Security Prompt

OK, this is strange and I'm not sure why it's happening. I'm set up as a
Power User (not an admin) and I have full control of a folder
(f:\videos\tv). Security looks like this...

System (full)
Administrators (full)
Power Users (full)
Network (read, execute)
User (read, execute)

I'm not in the users group, I'm not in admin group, I AM in Power Users.
Also, Power Users is the owner the folder. When I try to create a folder
within the f:\videos\tv folder, I'm prompted for an admin password from UAC.
Why is it that I can create folders within my documents folder which I own
and have full rights to, but I can't create a folder on another drive that I
own and have full rights to?

Don't have this problem with the default username in Vista. Never used
power user's since the deault is set for the admin group.

Why are you using Power Users?

Check the inherited permissions on f:\videos.

I assume that your Power User account created f:\videos and f:\videos\tv.

I created a Power User account in Vista. Created "C:\Test Folder" and
then "C:\Test Folder\Test 1". I then created another folder, "C:\Test
Folder\Test 1\Test 2", and no errors.

I also tried creating the "C:\Test Folder" as an Administrator, then
using the Power User account to create the remaining two folders and no
problems occurred.

However, while playing around with the default Administrator and newly
created Power User account, switching between these two accounts does
not access the existing Administrator profile. Once I logged out of the
Power User account and logged back in to my Administrator account, that
is when the original Administrator account/profile existed. My program
icons, shortcuts, etc. did not exist until I logged out of the Power
User account. I may write this in to a separate message and it seems
like a possible bug in Vista.

OK, I am able to create folders on C:\, but I believe that's because
"Authenticated Users" has rights to create folders on the drive. But Power
Users has rights to create folders (full control) on F:\ yet I'm not able to
create folders there. As to your question, Power Users is the owner of F:\,
F:\Videos, and F:\Videos\TV. Also, all permissions are inherited from F:\.

Also, I'm not sure if it's worth mentioning, but F:\ is an external drive
connected via USB.

OK, here's the thing. If I'm in the Power Users group, and I give Power
Users full control of F:\ and all subfolders. And, if I make Power Users
the owner of F:\ and all sub-objects. I'm not able to create folders with
out a prompt on F:\ or any subfolder of it. However, when I gave my
specific user (Jim) full control of F:\ and all subfolders and I gave my
specific user owner rights of F:\ and all sub-objects, I was able to create
folders.

So, I'm not sure what the significance is in that, but apparently Power
Users is meaningless in Vista or something.
