Secure Website Issues

I am running Windows XP with DSL internet service. About 2 weeks ago I could
no longer get into secure websites. When I try to log in to something I get
that the page cannot be displayed. I contacted my DSL provider and they
suggested downloading XP SP2. Since I couldn't get into the update site on
Microsoft, I downloaded SP2 to a CD and installed it on my pc. Once it was
installed I couldn't get onto the internet at all. I would get the error
message of "cannot find server". I then removed the service pak and am back
to where I was originally. I can get onto websites like CNN or Google, but I
cannot log into anything like hotmail or my banking website. I also cannot
access the internet through MSN and I cannot log into my email.

Is anyone aware of this problem and what can be done to correct this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Lori,
I am having the same problem and was wondering if you had found
anything to fix this problem.
