Secure page asks for login twice

I have a website and i have a secure subweb. I have my access setup so it
requires a user name and password, however it requires me to put in my
credentials twice every time I access the secure portion. Any ideas as to how
we can resolve this. I have already recalculated the sites.
 
Absolute links in image path names perhaps? (using different hostnames)
