second dc on a windows 2000 environment

Hi all
I just add a second dc to my win2k domain. I want to know
how to promote my second DC to GC. Alson I want to know
how many dc and GC can a domain has.

Hello!

Set a computer as global catalog server.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/en/server/help/msmq_inst_set_gc.htm

You can have as many you want and need. How ever in a multi domain
environment such a domain tree or trusted domains within a forest the holder
of the FSMO role IM should not be a Global Catalog Server.

I recommend at least one global catalog server in each site.

Thanks for that Info.
You said that you recomend just one GC. The problem that
I am having now by having just one GC, is that If I turn
off the first DC, users have problem login in.
Please let me know if having more than one GC is not
problem or why if the first dc is not available the second
dc is not doing the job.

At least one GC was what I recommend in each site, of course its not wrong
to have more than that.
