Second battery on laptop...

I have an HP / Compaq nc6230 laptop. I installed an 8-cell "travel battery"
(external), which fit well, but now Windows Vista is telling me that "Battery
2" is not installed. I've searched the power options, rebooted and even went
into BIOS to see if I needed to set something, to no avail.

What can I do in Vista to make it recognize the new 2nd battery??

There's a connector on the bottom of the laptop that it plugs into. Then
it's held on via a couple of clips.

I remember reading, in another forum!, something about external batteries
being recognized as Docking Stations. Will try and find the post and advise.

Thanks for the effort, but the issue seems to have resolved itself. Short of
me packing up the laptop, taking it home and bringing it back to work today,
I did nothing. But, upon booting up this AM, the 2nd battery is recognized.
Weird.

Thanks anyway!!
