Searching the emails

I have Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2003 all Service packs installed. Recently
one user complained about the Searching the email. The User has a huge
mailbox like 2 gig and almost 10,000 items. When user searches thru the
mailbox it starts searching from last month and goes backward. Meaning in
September it starts thru August and then it goes to July, June .... but will
not search the September. I tried on different machines by createing a
wholen new profile and it searches new itmes after it's done searching all
of the old items from 2003. Search takes awefully long time as well. The
user will not accept an answer to archive emails or delete anything out of
the mailbox.

Any suggestions. I know if I reduce the size of a mailbox then it will
search faster.

Hi... I don't think Oulook and Exchange Server where designed to be used as
ContentManagementSystem... your company has for shure other databases to
store information and content... for mee it looks like there is no other way
to convince your user to archive his mails (as he likes to keep them) into a
pst file or your company buyes a archiving tool for emails that makes users
easy to search for mails.

I have been using Lookout for Outlook for many years to search my
current and archived mail messages. It is still available as an
individual tool (http://www.lookoutsoft.com/Lookout/download.html), but
it has also been integrated into Windows Desktop Search
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/desktopsearch/default.mspx)
