Unable to Search Folders - Inbox Repair Tool

Sunshine

Hi, I am unable to create new folders or search email folders in Outlook 2003.

I thought this was related to the size of my mailbox so archived a HEAP of
emails and the size of the file is now under 2GB (around ). Still a problem
after this so I ran the Inbox Repair Tool and it did find errors but when I
opened my Outlook profile again I cannot see the 'Recovered' files in the
folder list? I do run multiple outlook profiles but checked the other
profile and the files are not there either?

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Kate

Hi,

The error message when I try to add a folder is: "Unable to Create the
Folder".

The response when I try to use the Search function to find an email is:
"Outlook cannot perform your search. Outlook cannot display this view"

File format is Unicode as file name is personalfolders(1).pst so seems no
conversin necessary.

What would you suggest now?

File format is Unicode as file name is personalfolders(1).pst
You cannot determine by the name if it is a Unicode or ANSI formatted
pst-file ;-)

Does it work in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe
(note the space in the command)

If it doesn't work in Safe Mode either, create a new pst-file and see if you
can create new folders in there. If so, I'd recommend to leave the current
pst-file issues for what they are and copy (don't try to move it) the
contents over to the new pst-file. For details see;

Microsoft Outlook 2002 and earlier versions limit the size of Personal
Folders (PST) file to 2GB. Whenever the PST file reaches or exceeds
that limit, you will not be able to open or load it any more, or you
cannot add any new data to it. This is called oversized PST file
problem. More detailed information can be found at
http://www.datanumen.com/aor/problems/2gb-pst.htm

You can use Advanced Outlook Repair to solve the problem, by either
converting it into Outlook 2003 format ( http://www.datanumen.com/aor/problems/convert-2gb-pst.htm
), or splitting it into smaller pieces ( http://www.datanumen.com/aor/problems/split-2gb-pst.htm
)

http://www.datanumen.com/aor/ contains the detailed information about
Advanced Outlook Repair.

And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe

Hello Dear,

If you feel that it is 2 gb pst problem then:
Microsoft Outlook 2002 and its earlier versions, which include Outlook
2000, 98 and 97, have 2 GB size limit problem with PST (Personal
Storage) file. If the PST file reaches or exceeds this size limit, the
file can not be opened and stored data can not be accessed. There are
strong chances of PST file corruption when it exceeds the size limit.
This issue is known as PST 2 GB problem or oversized PST problem.

Microsoft Outlook doesn’t include any tool to resolve 2 GB problem
with PST file. To handle such case, you are recommended to opt for
Stellar Phoenix Outlook PST Repair tool that splits a large sized PST
file into several individual PST files. If the file is damaged due to
exceeded size limit, this split PST tool allows you to easily repair
PST file.

However, Microsoft provides an external utility, called PST2gb to work
around such issues. But in the majority of situations, this utility
may fail to sort out the 2 GB problem and the file remains
inaccessible and unusable. Even if the restoration completes
successfully, some important data may get truncated and lost forever.

Microsoft also released several service packs so that when 2 GB
problem occurs with PST file, Outlook does not allow you to add new
data to it. This method helps you to prevent PST from being oversized
in some cases. But when this issue occurs, you can hardly do anything
unless you delete some data from the file and compact it.

In all such cases, Outlook repair software come for your rescue.
Stellar Phoenix Outlook PST Repair is the most comprehensive and
effective solution to handle all types of corruption issues with PST
file. This software can split PST file if it has exceeded the size
limit but it’s not corrupted and if the PST file is corrupted, it
helps you to repair PST file and retrieve data from it.
