Searching for a native XLS file creation class

Does anyone have any suggestions / recommendations for a native .XLS file
creator?

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, I was getting ready to go into a
meeting and didn't have time to post more requirements.

The number one requirement is that Office is not installed on the machine.
I want native BIFF file creation. No OLE / PInvoke automation whatsoever.
 
You can take a look at SoftArtisan's ExcelWriter. From some tests I did way
back when, it was pretty fast. Unfortunately, I have very little experience
with it except for doing a prototype for testing. We ended up having to go
the automation route because we needed to suppose embedding of Macros which
it did not support at that time. Not sure if it does now.
