Search is not responding

When using search, everything comes up, I put in my request but I always
receive the message that the search program is not responding. This was
initially working fine, can someone assist? I am running windows xp home
edition. Thank you Denise

Thanks for replying - sorry it has been so long in replying but the computer crashed totally. I think that finished the problems!
