Tom

I am not able to perform a keyword search in Internet
Explorer 6 sp1 - Windows XP HE and the settings are
correct in internet options. Any clue?

Again web browsers were initially made for one thing,
browsing to universal resource locators. If Microsoft
goes adding search features to their address bar and
changing how their web browser functions because of their
proprietary software interests then other browsers often
get pressured to follow suit. Please just visit a great
page like http://www.google.com/ to perform your search or
the webpage http://www.msn.com/ has a search line in its
webpage. Searches should be done in webpages not in
address bars. I wish Microsoft would post Netettiquette
guides as a part of their help documentation with Internet
Explorer so all users could understand a little more of
what a web browser is for and isn't.

Like someone else wanted their web browser to show pdf
files. I mean the adobe acrobat program was made for
that, it should autoload the file. Web browsers should
load web pages from urls. That's pretty much it. Even
images on their own should not load into web browsers as a
pure point, they should go to picture viewer or Quicktime
Picture viewer or MS Paint as the user specifies the
default application to be. As I am requesting the embed
src tag to operate in Internet Explorer per the open
source of html specifications which Microsoft should
comply with the tool should launch the tool of my choice
and not go to its own media player just because it is
Internet Explorer for example. When I go to a news site
and live video feeds are offered, if the video is
available in a format available for Quicktime which I have
selected as default then Windows XP or Internet Explorer
shouldn't change the setting for that viewing because
there is some agreement for the Microsoft software to
run. I mean these are the things which are baad and
unethical. Users should be able to control their
computers.

What the hell are you trying to tell me?

Tom,

Incorrect or missing URLSearchHooks GUID might be the culprit. See this thread, from MVP Mike Burgess:

If you are redirected to some unwanted sites then it may be caused by
parasites.
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
