A question regarding using the search function in Windows
XP Professional. After going to the Start button, and
then chosing Search, and then Internet Search, I see that
a different internet search option has replaced the
default one. I would assume this occured via a bad email
or website replacing the default. I don't know how long
it has been like this, as I never used it before. How do
I go back to the default, and rid myself of the rogue
search? This is in the same search area you would use to
search for files, and not in the browser itself. Thanks.

You could run Spybot and AdAware.
Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com Spybot -
http://security.kolla.deAlso, try SCANNOW to check for and correct corrupted
files.

SCANNOW (from an earlier post):

"The following assumes you have an actual XP CD as opposed to a restore CD
or
restore partition supplied by your PC manufacturer.

Go to Start, type sfc /scannow in the run box and press enter. Note, there
is a space between sfc and the forward slash. You will be asked for your XP
CD. Be aware, upon inserting the CD the XP setup screen may appear, this is
not a part of sfc /scannow, rather it is being invoked by autorun. Simply
minimize the screen and allow sfc to continue."
