Search form component

Does anyone know of any improvements for FrontPage's Search component?
Something that will allow users more flexibility in their searches. Seems
all they can do is either search on a keyword or key phrase if it's enclosed
in quotes.

It could be I'm simply not aware of this component's capabilities, and if
that's the case I'd appreciate being pointed somewhere I can find that
information. On the other hand, if there's some 3rd party component that
available, I'd love to know about it.

Using FP2000. Have 2002 but haven't started using it yet.

The search component is the same in all versions. If you are hosted on
Windows IIS with Index Server available, then you do a lot more using custom
ASP script.
