search for files and folders

For some reason, my file search has completely
dissapeared. I do not know when or how this happened,
but there are no more shortcuts, no links when you right
click a folder, and the hotkey doesn't work. The funny
thing is that all those things work perfectly if I am
logged in under someone else's name, so the problem is
only under my username. Can someone help me?

thanks, but I had to do something else which I found on
that same website to get it to work. if anyone cares, I
used the tip about disabling the search assistant to
enable it, and it works now.
