Search Files or Folders

. . . does not appear as an option when I click
(START) and then (SEARCH). This was an option the last
time I used this feature. I have been unable to get it
back as a search function. I have SONY VAIO RZ14. I
have had no problems with Windows XP Home Edition until
this happened. Any ideas as to how I can do this?
